Program on Women Empowerment – Government Girls Polytechnic College, Ahmedabad

Under the aegis of India’s Presidency of the G20 and in the run-up to the 3rd Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) and Finance and Central Bank Deputies (FCBD) meeting, scheduled from July 14-18, 2023 in Gandhinagar, with a view to creating wider awareness and involvement, a Jan Bhagidari program on ‘Women Empowerment’ was organized by Reserve Bank of India, Ahmedabad at Government Girls Polytechnic College, Ahmedabad on June 14, 2023. The program was attended by around 150 students of the college.

At the outset, Dr. B. B. Soneji, Principal of the college welcomed all participants and officials. Thereafter, Shri Ashok Parikh, General Manager Officer-in-Charge, Reserve Bank of India set the stage by outlining purpose and framework of the event. This was followed by a session on Electronic Banking and Awareness wherein students were familiarised about electronic banking, customer grievance redressal mechanism and basics of cyber safety.

A session on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace was delivered by Dr. Jharna Pathak, Secretary, Ahmedabad Womens’ Action Group (AWAG), who is also an external member of the Regional Complaints Committee of Reserve Bank of India, Ahmedabad, highlighting potential scenarios of harassment and steps to safeguard themselves and seek resolution in line with the POSH Act.

Before concluding, a brief session on career opportunities in the Reserve Bank of India was also conducted to inspire the young minds to serve the nation by becoming a part of the Institution.

The program concluded with an engaging quiz, in which the students participated actively. The program was very well received by students who gave a thunderous applause for the RBI team.
