First IMPCC Meeting stresses on collective efforts towards outreach responses to any instances of fake news or misleading information

The first IMPCC Meeting was convened today at the Central Government office Complex Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee-(IMPCC) meeting bringing together representatives from key government bodies, including Railways,  Postal Department, Income Tax, KVIC, Airport Authority, AIIMS Mangalagiri, NYKS, NSSO, Doordarshan, All India Radio, Press Information Bureau, Central Bureau of Communication, Andhra Pradesh State Information and Public Relation Department, Union Bank of India (Lead Bank), Food Corporation of India, School of planning and architecture.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to strategize and align efforts for a coordinated approach to ensure outreach action in response of any Fake News, misleading information etc. and also suitable propagation of SVEEP (Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation) Programme.

Chaired by Shri Rajinder Chaudhry, ADG Press Information Bureau, Vijayawada, the meeting underscored the critical importance of effectively showcasing departmental schemes to the public.

ADG Shri.Rajinder Chaudhry, said that the purpose of the meeting is to enhance a comprehensive coordination and communication management among all the stakeholders in government departments, PSUs, Media units for a better reach of government programmes to the people.

Shri.Rajinder Chaudhry briefed about the role of Press Information Bureau (PIB) as the nodal agency of the Government of India, with the mandate to disseminate information to the print and electronic media, on government policies, programmes, initiatives and achievements.  PIB functions as an interface between the Government and the media, and also serves to provide feedback to the Government, on people's reaction as reflected in the media.

It was decided by the IMPCC members to keep a close watch on any news or Information that may be misleading or false and to make suitable use of Fact check Unit of PIB.

Director, PIB, Vijayawada Shri.G.D.Hallikeri, informed that any information regarding its being  genuine or otherwise could be sought at fact check  WhatdsAPP No.91-8799711259 or group of PIB fact units or E-mailed factcheck@pib.gov.in.

Director, CBC, Vijayawada Shri.P.Ratnakar, explained the activities of CBC in respect of direct interpersonal communication through Exhibition, Nuked and Natak, Folk songs in rural areas.

Participation from various offices and organisations interacted during the meeting detailing their activities and sought the PIB to channel out all the productive work happening in their respective organisations.
