Promotion of FPOs by SFAC

So far, Small Farmers' Agri-Business Consortium (SFAC)  has promoted 910 Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) in the country, out of which 15 FPOs are registered and promoted in Andhra Pradesh under various programme such as Vegetable Initiative for Urban Clusters(VIUC), Integrated Development of 60,000 Pulses Villages in Rainfed Areas(Pulses), National Food Security Mission(NFSM), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) etc.

So far, INR 100.83 lakh has been provided to FPOs in the State of Andhra Pradesh by SFAC out of which Rs. 5.32 lakh has been provided for FPO promotion in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.

To encourage more farmers, to set up a greater number of FPOs for providing better services to farmers, a new Central Sector Scheme (CSS) namely "Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)”, has been launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister on 29.02.2019. Under the scheme, 23 FPOs are allocated to SFAC as Implementing Agency during 2020-21 in the State of Andhra Pradesh, out of which, 5 FPOs are meant for Anantapur District. The Farmers are utilizing services provided through FPOs like information services, community seed multiplication units, manage machine hiring services, marketing, supply organic and other inputs etc.. The farmers are enthusiastically participating in FPO formation and promotion.

This information was given in a written reply by the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar in Lok Sabha today.
