DFS along with Public Sector Banks, Public Sector Insurance Companies, Public Sector Financial Institutions and Regulators, carries out various activities under Special Campaign on Swachhata 2.0 from 2nd to 31st October, 2022

The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, along with Public Sector Banks, Public Sector Insurance Companies, Public Sector Financial Institutions and Regulators, have carried out various activities from 2nd to 31st October, 2022, Special Campaign 2.0 was undertaken with full enthusiasm.

During the Special Campaign 2.0, all the organisations of DFS participated. Thrust was given on cleanliness drive, beautification of corridors, renovations of rooms, environment-friendly and inclusivity measures, weeding out of old records, liquidating the pendency in respect of VIP References and Public Grievances. Several rounds of meetings have been held to review progress at the level of the MoS/ Secretary/AS/JS, DFS. Teams have been formed at ground level to coordinate activities and to ensure the success of the Campaign.

To highlight, as at the end of the day, on 31.10.2022, targeted activities at 3,615 cleanliness Campaign sites were concluded. 6,22,153 Sq.ft. space was freed as a result of the Campaign. Rs.5,75,56,452 was earned from scrap disposal.   

Since its launch on last October, 2021, it has been the endeavour of DFS and its organisations to continue to keep the Campaign alive to remove pendency and to ensure cleanliness. Monthly progress of these activities was uploaded regularly on DARPG Portal.

Activities of DFS and organizations were posted on social media platform. 1107 tweets were posted during 2-31 October 2022. Heads of organisations, customers and staff expressed their views through their videos and placed them on social media. As per the Campaign objectives various organisations flagged their environment-friendly and inclusivity measures and posted them in social media during the month-long Campaign.

Bank of Baroda has tweeted about their resolve to ‘plant a tree’ for every Auto (vehicle) and Home Loan sanctioned. The programme aims to plant seven lakh fruit bearing trees on behalf of its customers over a period of three years. The objective of this initiative is to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable planet and provide livelihood to small farmers. In this initiative, various NGOs are involved and certificates are being awarded to the customers who plant trees.

SIDBI tweeted about their Natural Aerobic Composting system- ‘My Green Bin’ installed at SIDBI Officers Residential Apartments, Bengaluru for converting wet waste into manure. The initiative has manifold benefits ranging from providing manure for organic farming and gardening for cleaner air and checking ground pollution.

LIC has communicated about many tanks that they set up across the Country for rain water harvesting. Rain water harvesting has been made mandatory in all new constructions. It is also provided in almost all its own buildings for collecting rooftop rainwater for recharging tube wells and increasing water table.
