Skill Development And Capacity Building Under PMKVY

Under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), placement opportunities have been provided to Short Term Training (STT) certified candidates, while Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is not linked with placements as it recognizes the existing skills of candidate. Under PMKVY-STT, as on 30.09.2022, 24.30 lakh candidates have been reported placed in various sectors across the country.

In order to enhance industry linkage, Ministry through National Skill Development Corporation has facilitated the setting up of 37 Sector Skill Councils as autonomous industry led bodies to develop National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) aligned job roles [qualification packs (QPs)] and course curriculum, conduct skill gap studies and assess and certify trainees.

Further, Ministry has launched special programmes under PMKVY 3.0 namely Customized Crash Course Programme for COVID Warriors (CCCP for CW) wherein thrust has been given on On-the-Job Training (OJT) in hospitals which provides candidates with hands on job experience.

Under PMKVY-MUDRA linkage, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs) were designated as Hand Holding Agencies for MUDRA loans on Udyamimitra Portal (SIDBI). As per reported data till 2018, 251 candidates have availed the loan (including 181 MUDRA loan) for self-employment.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
