Ordnance Factories manufactured arms and ammunition following laid down specifications, as per the Quality Assurance (QA) plan provided by the Authorities Holding Sealed particulars (Directorate General of Quality Assurance/Defence Research and Development Organisation) and supplied the same to the users after due inspection by DGQA. In spite of the above, in certain cases accidents/defects were reported at the User End. Major incidences were investigated through defect investigation mechanism by DGQA and remedial actions are taken as per the recommendations.

All the products manufactured by the production units are subjected to various Quality Checks, which are on the basis of Quality Assurance Plan (QAP)/Acceptance Test Plan (ATP)/Quality Plan etc. These Quality Plans/documents have clear guidelines for all the checks to be carried out during the entire cycle of manufacturing of Defence Stores. Further, designated Inspector of customer is undertaking the Second Party Inspection coverage called Quality Assurance (QA), done based on QAP/ATP by Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA), Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA) and Directorate General of Naval Armament Inspection (DGNAI) for the stores issued to Army, Air Force, and Navy respectively.

This information was given by Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt in a written reply to Shri Rajendra Dhedya Gavit in Lok Sabha today.
