ASSISTANCE TO VOLUNTARY ORGANISATION

The Department of Social Justice & Empowerment does not have any Centrally sponsored scheme under which assistance is given to voluntary organisations working for Scheduled Castes. However, the Department implements a Central Sector Scheme namely 'Grant-in-Aid (GIA) to Voluntary and other Organisations working for Scheduled Castes' under which financial assistance is provided to the NGOs for projects related to education of students belonging to Scheduled Castes. Projects include Residential Schools, Non Residential Schools and Hostels, both for Primary and Secondary Students. The scheme has been revised w.e.f 2022-23 as 'Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas' (SHRESHTA). As per the revised Scheme, GIA will only be sanctioned to the projects already approved, i.e. projects / organisations which are receiving grant in aid for previous year(s) and no new cases of any organisation will be entertained under the Scheme.

The names of the organisations in Uttar Pradesh which have received grants under the above scheme in the last three years and the current year, and the grants given to them, are given at Annexure.
