Art Unites Kashi & Tamil Nadu

A vibrant Poster Making Competition was organised today at the Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) as part of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 programme, celebrating the cultural linkages between Kashi and Tamil Nadu. The event, based on the theme “Unity in Diversity,” witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 150 students.

Students from Kashi Vidyapith and various departments of BHU created visually compelling posters that highlighted the shared heritage, traditions, customs, folk culture and lifestyles of both regions. Their artworks depicted elements ranging from the ghats and temples of Kashi to the dance forms, architectural styles and cultural motifs of Tamil Nadu, reflecting the harmonious coexistence of diverse cultural expressions within India’s identity.

Several entries illustrated iconic visuals such as the Ganga Aarti and Bharatanatyam, while others showcased traditions linked to places like Kanchipuram. Collectively, the posters portrayed the spiritual, artistic and cultural essence of both Kashi and Tamil Nadu, reinforcing the theme of unity through creative expression.

The competition was held under the guidance of the Department of Applied Arts, Faculty of Visual Arts, BHU. Students expressed appreciation for the opportunity, noting that the platform encouraged them to explore cultural themes from new and innovative perspectives.

The best entries will be recognised on the main stage of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, offering students well-deserved acknowledgement for their creativity and artistic insight.
