To provide a digital platform for trade of Medicinal Plants among farmers, industries and other stakeholders & to provide easy market access National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), Ministry of Ayush has launched “e-CHARAK” mobile application as well as web portal for the promotion and marketing of medicinal plants/herbs.
Further, following steps have been taken to enhance the functionality of the digital platform and mobile app "eCHARAK 2.0".
(i) Revamping of the existing application using upgraded technology.
(ii) Enhanced security mechanism to enable users to enlist medicinal plants for sale.
(iii) Multilingual access.
(iv) Interactive user guide for ease of access
(v) Chatbot for assistance.
Functional Modules of eCharak are Knowledge Resources, Market Price, Post an Item, Directory of MAP stakeholders, which helps all stakeholders to access agro techniques of medicinal plants, market price of medicinal plants (commodity wise, market wise and price wise).
National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of Ayush is implementing a Central Sector Scheme on Conservation, Development and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants throughout the country. The scheme is aimed at providing project-based support for the following activities:
- In-situ conservation / Ex-situ conservation.
- Livelihood linkages with Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) / Panchayats / Van Panchayats / Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) / Self Help Groups (SHGs).
- Establishment of Nurseries and Herbal Garden.
- Research & Development.
- Promotion, marketing and trade of medicinal plants produce.
- Information Education & Communication (IEC) activities like Training / Workshops / Seminars/ Conferences etc.
- Forward and backward linkage in supply chain of medicinal plants (Integrated Component).
