All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under Ministry of Ayush is operational in New Delhi. This Institute was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, on 17th October 2017, conceived as the apex Institute of Ayurveda under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, AIIA represents the Government’s vision of integrating traditional Ayurveda with modern scientific advancements.
The Institute has emerged as a Centre of Excellence in Ayurveda education, research, clinical care and innovation, serving as a referral tertiary-care facility and a model institution for global collaboration. AIIA is heading towards to deliver in three major areas i.e. tertiary care, research and academics of Ayurveda.
Further, a Satellite Centre of AIIA, New Delhi has been established and operational in Goa. The details of facilities available in AIIA, New Delhi and its Satellite Centre in Goa are attached as Annexure-I

Tertiary Care Services
- AIIA operates a 200-bedded state-of-the-art tertiary care hospital, providing comprehensive Ayurveda-based healthcare integrated with modern diagnostic and emergency support.
- The daily OPD footfall averages between 1,500–2,000, and the Institute has benefitted over 28 lakh patients through OPD services, health camps, and public health projects, and more than 24,000 patients through IPD care (as of 30 November 2025).
- The Institute houses 45 specialty clinics, covering a vast spectrum of diseases such as diabetes, respiratory and neurological disorders, nephrology, musculoskeletal ailments, infertility, PCOD, skin diseases, geriatrics, and lifestyle disorders. It also offers ayurveda procedures including Ksharsutra, Agnikarma, Marma Chikitsa, Jalauka therapy, and Raktamokshan.
Integrated support facilities include:
- Fully equipped Central Laboratories (Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Radiology, Blood Bank, and Central Oxygen Facility)
- Panchakarma units (separate for male, female, and children)
- Modular operation theatres, labour room, ICU, NICU, and emergency unit
- Leech therapy centre, Kriyakalpa unit, and a dispensing pharmacy with in-house drug manufacturing
- AIIA also hosts dedicated Integrative AYUSH Clinics such as:

Research & Innovation
- AIIA is a hub for translational and interdisciplinary research, with over 740 research projects — including international collaborations, extramural, intramural, and public health studies. It houses advanced research units such as:Integrated Translational Molecular Biology Unit
- Pharmacology Laboratory
- Ayurinformatics Laboratory
- The Institute’s Public Health Initiatives, under the Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Ayush, address key areas including musculoskeletal health, mental wellness, geriatric care, healthy progeny, oral health, and latent tuberculosis.
AIIA also manages the Regional Raw Drug Repository (RRDR) for the Trans-Ganga Plains and maintains a Manuscript Museum preserving ancient Ayurvedic texts.
- Its innovation ecosystem is strengthened through the Incubation Centre for Ayurveda Innovation & Entrepreneurship (i-CAINE), which promotes start-ups and translational technology, and an Ayurinformatics Laboratory dedicated to in-silico drug discovery and network pharmacology.
- Affiliated with the University of Delhi, the Institute offers Postgraduate (MD/MS) programs in 12 specialties, Ph.D. programs in Ayurveda and allied disciplines, as well as Skill Development and Certificate Courses, including Panchakarma Technician, AYUSH Hospital Administration, Ksharsutra Technician, Diet & Nutrition, and Yoga Science.
- AIIA is designated as a Centre of Excellence for Ayush Skill Development, with 12 certified skill courses registered in the National Qualification Register (NQR) under the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC).
Collaborations
- AIIA has established 90 MoUs (71 national and 19 international) with leading institutions such as London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK), and Innoplexus (Germany), AIIMS, ICMR, CSIR, IIT Delhi. Major international projects include:
- Clinical trial of Ashwagandha for long COVID-19 recovery in collaboration with the UK.
- Molecular mechanism study of Guduchyadi tablets against COVID-19, in partnership with Germany.
- AIIA also serves as the National Coordinating Centre for Pharmacovigilance of ASU&H Drugs and Smart India Hackathon (Ayush).
- The Institute regularly hosts international delegations and has organised 28 editions of the “Know India Programme”, welcoming over 950 visitors from 32 countries under the aegis of the Ministry of External Affairs.
Extension Centres
- To promote integrative health care, AIIA has established six extension centres across premier national institutions:

- Supreme Court of India, New Delhi
- Statue of Unity, Kevadia, Gujarat

- These centres represent AIIA’s outreach and commitment to mainstream Ayurveda within major academic, administrative, and healthcare frameworks.
Its integrated model of education, research, clinical care, entrepreneurship stands as a benchmark for all Ayurveda institutes across India, reaffirming its position as the foremost institute of Ayurveda in the country.
Satellite Centre – AIIA, Goa.
The Satellite Centre of AIIA, Goa, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 11th December 2022 during the World Ayurveda Congress, marks a new milestone in expanding AIIA’s academic and clinical footprint.
Spread over 50 acres, it houses a 250-bed hospital, 14 academic departments, and offers UG (enrolled 399 in 3 batches), PG (enrolled 49 in 2 batches) affiliated to Goa University. The centre has already catered to over 4.4 lakh OPD and 4,000 IPD patients and aims to position Goa as a global Ayurvedic medical tourism hub.
