Integrated Management System of AIIA

The Pharmacology Laboratory of the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi has been accredited with Integrated Management System on 6th November 2025 by Bureau of Indian Standards to strengthen quality, safety and environmental compliance.

The laboratory is accredited with:-

  • IS/ISO 9001:2015 QMS (Quality Management System),
  • IS/ISO 14001:2015 EMS (Environmental Management System), and
  • IS/ISO 45001:2018 OHSHS (Occupational Health and Safety Management System)

The processes that have been established to standardize pre-clinical pharmacology research on Ayurvedic formulations are:-

(i) Development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Executive Procedures (EPs) for all laboratory activities, including, animal procurement, experimental protocols, bio-waste management, and reporting.

(ii) Establishment of quality assurance mechanisms, internal audits and periodic reviews to maintain consistency in experimental outcomes.

(iii) Use of validated protocols, and calibrated instruments to support accuracy and reliability in pre-clinical research.

The impact of adopting ISO standards on research outcomes and laboratory efficiency are:-

  1. Enhanced data reliability and reproducibility due to standardized processes and quality controls.
  2. Improved environmental sustainability, resource optimization and waste management through EMS implementation.

(iii)        Strengthened safety culture, reducing the risk of laboratory incidents and improving staff and scholars well-being.
