Development of North East Region

Under its various schemes, the Ministry of development of North East Region has spent Rs. 9195.65 crore. Since 2021 in various sectors including the enhancement of road infrastructure, healthcare, education, civil aviation, power etc. Under the “Act East, Act Fast, Act First” principle, this Ministry is undertaking proactive measures in the North Eastern Region (NER) transforming it into India’s growth engine. Under the 10% Gross Budgetary Support mechanism, all non-exempted Ministries/Departments are mandated to spend at least 10% of their budget allocation for the development of North Eastern Region (NER). In the last four financial years, a cumulative expenditure of Rs. 3.46 lakh crore has been made against the cumulative allocation of Rs. 3.20 lakh crore for development in the NER in various sectors.

The year-wise expenditure incurred by Government towards the development of NER since 2021 is as follow:
