TRAI releases a consultation paper on the Framework for Satellite Communication Network Authorisation, and Assignment of Spectrum to Satellite Communication Network Providers
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has today released a consultation paper on the Framework for Satellite Communication Network Authorisation, and Assignment of Spectrum to Satellite Communication Network Providers.
DoT conveyed to TRAI on 03.07.2025 that “the Government proposes the introduction of a Satellite Communication Network (SCN) Authorisation under Section 3(1)(b) of the Telecommunications Act, 2023” and requested TRAI to “provide terms and conditions for Satellite Communication Network (SCN) authorisation including provision of assignment of spectrum for both feeder link as well as user link under such authorisation.”
In this regard, TRAI has issued a consultation paper on the Framework for Satellite Communication Network Authorisation, and Assignment of Spectrum to Satellite Communication Network Providers for seeking comments and counter-comments from stakeholders. Written comments on the issues, raised through the consultation paper, are invited from stakeholders by 06.05.2026 and counter-comments by 20.05.2026. The consultation paper is available at the TRAI's website (www.trai.gov.in).
