LOK SABHA SPEAKER PAYS TRIBUTES TO LOKMATA AHILYABAI HOLKAR ON HER 301ST  BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

The Lok Sabha Speaker today paid tributes to Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar while addressing a distinguished gathering organised in Agra to commemorate her 301st Birth Anniversary. On the occasion, he called for a governance system founded on the principles of participation, accountability and justice.

The Speaker observed that despite facing extraordinary personal hardships and family tragedies, Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar established an exemplary system of governance rooted in justice, compassion and public welfare. He said that even after three centuries, her administrative foresight and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the last person in society continue to inspire the principles of good governance.

Addressing the gathering, the Lok Sabha Speaker called upon all citizens and public representatives to draw inspiration from the life and ideals of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar and dedicate themselves to the task of nation-building through people's participation and collective efforts. He urged everyone to embrace the values of accountability, responsibility, transparency and justice in governance and administration to realise the resolve of Viksit Bharat.

The Speaker said that Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar devoted her entire life to alleviating the sufferings of society. Drawing a parallel between her spirit of sacrifice and that of Lord Shiva, he said that just as Lord Shiva consumed poison for the welfare of humanity, Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar embraced the sufferings of the people as her own and dedicated herself to selfless public service. He added that her governance was founded on the principles of truth, justice, compassion, righteousness and cultural values.

Highlighting her invaluable contribution to the preservation of India's cultural and spiritual heritage, the Speaker said that Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar spearheaded a cultural renaissance by undertaking the restoration and reconstruction of numerous temples across the country. He observed that her vision of governance remains an outstanding example of how sensitivity, accountability and just policies can bring about meaningful and positive change in the lives of ordinary citizens. He further remarked that Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar belonged not to any particular community or section of society but to the entire nation. Owing to her unwavering commitment to public welfare, she earned the enduring respect and affection of people across the country.

The Lok Sabha Speaker stated that the life and ideals of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar continue to serve as a source of inspiration for all those engaged in public life. He noted that Presiding Officers and public representatives should draw inspiration from her life in discharging their constitutional responsibilities with impartiality, fairness, inclusiveness and accountability.

Describing Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar as an eternal source of inspiration, the Lok Sabha Speaker said that her life, marked by sacrifice, service, compassion and spiritual devotion, would continue to inspire not only India but the entire world. He expressed confidence that her ideals would remain a guiding force for future generations and emphasised that governance must always remain people-centric, accountable and committed to ensuring justice for every citizen.
