National Commission for Minorities Promotes Dialogue and Inclusive Development through National Outreach Initiatives

NCM has conducted a study on the subject “Contribution of Jain Community in the Field of Education” during 2026. The study documents the historical evolution, institutional contribution and educational philosophy of the Jain community in India. It captures the role of Jain trusts, philanthropists, educational institutions and community organisations in promoting learning, research, scholarships, value-based education and inclusive access to education.
National Commission for Minorities (NCM), in discharge of its advisory and facilitative mandate, organized Conference of State Minorities Commissions on the 19th May 2026 at New Delhi, which was attended by representatives of State Minorities Commissions, including the Maharashtra State Minorities Commission, along with officials of State Governments and Union Territories. The Conference served as a platform to deliberate on institutional strengthening,
administrative coordination, grievance redressal mechanisms, and the exchange of best practices for enhancing outreach and improving the delivery of welfare measures for minority communities.
The Commission also organized a series of national seminars on the Buddhist, Jain and Parsi communities during 2026 to facilitate dialogue, research and awareness on issues concerning minority communities and to encourage greater dissemination of information on Government welfare initiatives. During these events, the Government's commitment towards the welfare and inclusive development of minority communities was highlighted alongwith various welfare initiatives and programmes.

- National Seminar on "Buddhism in Modern India: Navigating Cultural and Social Pathways" (27.02.2026, New Delhi)
The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) organized a National seminar on “Buddhism in Modern India: Navigating Cultural and Social Pathways” on 27.02.2026 in New Delhi. The Seminar was graced by Hon’ble Minister of Minority Affairs, and Hon’ble Minister of State for Minority Affairs. The seminar focused on heritage preservation, education, youth engagement and the role of Buddhist philosophy in promoting peace and social harmony. The seminar brought together policymakers, scholars, spiritual leaders, and community representatives to deliberate on the evolving role of Buddhism in India’s socio-cultural landscape.

National Commission for Minorities (NCM), in collaboration with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore, organized a National Seminar on “The Contribution of the Jain Community to the Indian Economy, Education, and Philanthropy” on 23.4.20226 in Indore. The Seminar was graced by Hon’ble Minister of State for Minority Affairs. The seminar brought together scholars, academicians, industrialists, philanthropists, students, and members of the Jain community to discuss the community’s significant role in nation-building.

National Commission for Minorities (NCM) organized a National Seminar on “Parsis in Modern India: Navigating Cultural and Socio-Economic Pathways” on 09.05.2026 in Mumbai. The Seminar was graced by Hon’ble Minister of Minority Affairs, and Hon’ble Minister of State for Minority Affairs. The seminar focused on the preservation of Parsi heritage, socio-economic development, demographic challenges and the community's invaluable contribution to nation-building. The seminar brought together ministers, policymakers, scholars, industrialists, academicians, and members of the Parsi community to discuss issues related to cultural preservation, demographic challenges, and socio-economic development.
Conference of State Minorities Commissions (19.05.2026, New Delhi)
National Commission for Minorities organized the Conference of State Minorities Commissions on 19th May 2026 at New Delhi to discuss minority welfare, protection of minority rights and inclusive development. The Seminar was graced by Hon’ble Minister of Minority Affairs, and Hon’ble Minister of State for Minority Affairs. The Conference deliberated on best practices, challenges faced by State Commissions and the role of minority communities in nation-building. The conference brought together representatives from State Minorities Commissions, State Governments, Union Territories and minority communities to strengthen coordination and welfare mechanisms across the country.
