The Government has adopted digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to strengthen Ayush systems.

The Ayush Grid project serves as the digital backbone of the Ayush sector, driving digital transformation by integrating advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and other emerging technologies across healthcare, research & development, education, awareness, citizen services etc. Under this initiative, several digital platforms have been developed, including the Ayush Hospital Management Information System (AHMIS) for healthcare service delivery, the Ayush Research Portal (ARP) to support evidence-based research, and the NAMASTE Portal for standardized Ayush terminology and morbidity coding etc.

Further, the Ministry of Ayush has deployed AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants in MAISP portal, Yoga Portal, eLMS portal, Ayush research Portal, e- Charak and Ayush Nivesh Saarthi under the Ayush Grid initiative to strengthen traditional medicine systems and improve citizen-centric services. These AI solutions facilitate knowledge dissemination, research access, market intelligence, education, investment facilitation, and personalized wellness guidance, thereby improving accessibility, efficiency, and service delivery in the Ayush ecosystem.

Beside this, the Ministry has sanctioned establishment of a Centre of Excellence in AyurTech under Ayurswasthya scheme for Integrative Precision Health and Medicine at IIT Jodhpur. This pioneering project integrates Functional Genomics, Electronics, Digital Health, and cutting-edge technologies such as AI and ML to develop evidence-based solutions for the Ayush Sector. Furthermore, under Ayurveda Biology Integrated Health Research (ABIHR) component of AYURGYAN Scheme of Ministry of Ayush, one of the priority area of research is use of advancement in sciences, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other computing technologies for understanding of physiology and pathology with individualistic approach for the prevention and management of diseases

On 11th July 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) has released a technical brief titled, "Mapping the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Traditional Medicine" recognizing India’s innovation and implementation of AI in traditional medicine.
