Presently, there are 24 nuclear power reactors in commercial operation in the country with a total capacity of 8,780 MW. The details are given in Annexure.
During the period 2019-20 to 2023-24, except KAPS-4 which commenced commercial operation in March-2024, the average PLF of nuclear power plants (excluding duration of major refurbishment) has been higher in comparison to the average all India Thermal PLF (excluding Gas based Power Plants, source CEA report).
This information was given by Union Minister of State for Prime Minister’s office and Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
