A total of 33.54 lakh houses have been sanctioned and 35.54 lakh houses (inclusive of sanctions issued in previous years) have been completed under PMAY-G for the year 2025-26 upto June 2026. In the State of Jharkhand, 1.48 lakh houses have been sanctioned and 0.68 lakh houses have been completed under PMAY-G during this period.
As on date, a cumulative target of 4.18 crore houses have been allocated under the PMAY-G to the States and Union Territories (UTs) against which 3.92 crore houses have been sanctioned, 3.11 crore houses completed and 1.06 crore houses are remaining to be completed against allocated targets. State-wise/Union Territory-wise details of balance completion against targets, including State of Jharkhand are provided in Annexure I.
The State Governments/UT Administrations are the primary implementing authorities at the ground level. As reported by the States/UTs, the major reasons for delays in completion include cases of unwillingness of beneficiaries, permanent migration, disputed succession of deceased beneficiaries, delay in allotment of land to landless beneficiaries by the States/UTs, the delay in updation of credit confirmation from State IFMIS and at times General/Assembly/ Panchayat elections and unavailability of building materials.
The Ministry regularly reviews the progress reported by the States/UTs and takes up such implementation issues with them for timely resolution.
Under PMAY-G, the beneficiaries are provided financial assistance of ₹1.20 lakh in plain areas and ₹1.30 lakh in the North-Eastern Region States and 2 Hill States (Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) and Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. In addition to the Unit Assistance provided under the scheme, financial assistance of ₹12,000 is extended for the construction of toilets through convergence with the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G). Further, there is a provision for providing prescribed person-days of unskilled wage employment within the approved scheme parameters, at prevailing wage rates to each PMAY-G beneficiary for the construction of their house through convergence with MGNREGS/ VB G-RAM G.
PMAY-G households are also provided with piped drinking water through convergence with the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Har Ghar Nal Se Jal (HGNSJ) of the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, or other similar schemes. In addition, beneficiaries are supported with electricity connection through relevant schemes implemented by the Ministry of Power, State Governments, or UT Administrations, and are provided Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas or other relevant schemes. Convergence under PMAY-G also includes the inclusion of women members of beneficiary households in Self-Help Groups (SHGs), thereby promoting their social and economic empowerment.
At the national level, as on date, a total of 3.10 crore houses have been provided with toilets, 2.45 crore houses with water connections, 3.08 crore houses with electricity connections, 2.91 crore houses with LPG connections, and 1.35 crore beneficiary households have been associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
The approved duration of phase-2 of PMAY-G for completing additional 2 crore houses is March 2029. In this regard to complete the pending 1.06 crore houses, number of steps have been taken by the Government to accelerate construction of houses in all States/UTs including Jharkhand, to achieve the targets under PMAY-G. These include timely allocation of targets and release of adequate funds to the States/UTs, Regular review of progress, Monitoring and supervision of the scheme on a Dashboard, Regular Workshops by the Ministry with the States/UTs, Rural Mason Training program, etc.
