RENEWAL- 2026 (FAQs and Documents Required)
- WHO CAN APPLY FOR RENEWAL OF PIB ACCREDITATION CARD?
All journalists holding valid PIB card for the year 2025 are eligible to apply for renewal of PIB Card, 2026.
- WHAT ARE THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE UPLOADED?
Mandatory for Journalists of all categories:-
- All journalists are required to upload valid present address proof.
- Self-attested copy of recommendation letter of the Editor of the organization duly signed, dated and stamped. (Except freelance and veteran category)
The following documents are also required to be uploaded compulsorily: -
For Print Media :
1. Submission of latest Circulation Certificate issued by RNI/ABC and for newspapers whose daily circulation is between 10,000 to 25,000 are required to submit circulation certificate issued by CAG/RNI empaneled Chartered Accountant.
2. Submission of Latest Annual Statement filed with RNI (for the period ending March 2025).
For Electronic Media:
(1) Submission of latest Uplinking/Downlinking permission from M/o I&B.
(2) Submission of latest Uplinking/Downlinking Renewal permission fee payment receipt issued by M/o I&B.
For News Agencies:
List of subscribers certified by the Head of the organisation.
For Digital Media:
(1)Website's average monthly unique visitor count of last six months duly certified by the website's CAG approved/ empanelled auditors.
(2) Domain Registration details showing validity of the website.
(3) Proof of editor being a Indian National.
- FOR EDITORS CATEGORY:-
Self-recommendation letter can be uploaded duly signed, dated and stamped.
- IS ONE RECOMMENDATION PER JOURNALIST ESSENTIAL FROM THE ORGANISATION?
No. The Editor can send a combined letter for all the journalists working in the organisation whose card is proposed to be renewed.
Individual journalists can upload combined letter by manually ticking the name on the list for easy identification.
- WHAT ARE THE DOCUMENTS A FREELANCE JOURNALIST IS EXPECTED TO UPLOAD?
FREELANCE CORRESPONDENT/ CAMERAPERSON
Self-attested scanned copies of 20 items of freelance work done during 2025 calendar year (articles/photographs/videos) with by-line credits and date/name of publication duly highlighted. In case of photographers/cameraperson, the by-line/credit mentioning name must be clearly visible in the articles/photos/videos submitted or in absence of such photos/ videos/ articles, a letter from the Editor(S) of publication / media organisation clearly stating that the applicant has regularly contributed photos/videos/articles to the publication/media organisation.
Freelance journalist has to submit an Undertaking regarding employment details as per proforma available in the online application.
Note:
1. PIB reserves the right to call for any information/documents for verification.
2. This is only for Renewal in existing organisation/category. For any other
changes in existing particulars, please go through the relevant form in the main accreditation menu.
3. All documents are to be self-attested and uploaded along with the online application form.
4. Applicants are requested to upload all the required documents while filling the
online application form to avoid delay.
