Sixth phase of Lok Sabha Elections in West Bengal will be held tomorrow. All arrangements have been completed to ensure free and fair voting. Polling will be held in eight Parliamentary seats at Tamluk,Kantai,Ghatal,Jhargram,Medinipur,Purulia,Bankura and Bishnupur from 7 AM to 6 PM. The Election Commission has taken all necessary measures in view of cyclonic storm ‘Remal’ which formed at Central Bay of Bengal and under influence of it Coastal belts of the State are likely to witness heavy downpour from tomorrow. The Polling personnel have already reached their destinations.

Altogether 1 crore 45 lakhs 34 thousands 228 electorates are eligible to cast their franchise in eight Parliamentary constituencies. 79 candidates are in the fray in eight seats. Highest number of 13 candidates are contesting from Jhargram and Bankura constituencies followed by 12 in Purulia, 9 each from Tamluk, Kantai and Medinipur and remaining 7 each from Ghatal and Bishnupur seat.

15 thousands 592 Polling booths have been set up covering eight Parliamentary constituencies.Of which 2 thousands 678 Polling Stations have been identified as critical. 269 polling booths will be manned by the women polling personnel.

The Election Commission has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure free and fair voting. 919 companies of Central Para-Military forces and around 30 thousands State Police Personnel have been deployed.Additional companies of Central Para-Military forces have been deployed at Nandigram under Tamluk Parliamentary constituency.Strong security measures have been kept in erstwhile Maoist infested areas in Jungle Mahal at Jhargram, Purulia and Bankura to avoid any untoward incident during voting. Arrangements for web casting have also been kept in all Polling Stations to monitor the voting process.
