Heavy Water Board (HWB) Signs Agreement with Nucleoelectrica Argentina S.A. (NASA) for Supply of Heavy Water

The Heavy Water Board (HWB), a constituent unit of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), has entered into an agreement with Nucleoelectrica Argentina S.A. (NASA) for the supply of heavy water to be used in the Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) operated by NASA in Argentina. This agreement, which spans a period of four years, was signed on November 4, 2024.

On the occasion, Shri S. Satyakumar, Chairman and Chief Executive of HWB, emphasized that the agreement reflects the shared vision between India and Argentina, their commitment to excellence, and their collective dedication to advancing the fields of science and technology. He noted that this collaboration underscores the potential and power that arises when like-minded organizations come together in pursuit of excellence.

The agreement was signed in a virtual ceremony, with Shri S. Satyakumar signing from Anushakti Bhavan, OYC, DAE, Mumbai, and Shri Alberto Lamagna, President of NASA, signing from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Dinesh Bhatia, Ambassador of India to Argentina; Ms. Anjali Sinha, Joint Secretary (I&M), DAE; Shri V.V.S.A. Prasad, Director (Operations), HWB; Shri K.V. Tale, Associate Director (Operations), HWB; Shri Luis Fasanella, Vice President, NASA; and Shri Fernando Daniel Monserrat, CEO, NASA.
