In a historic milestone for the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, the inaugural commercial flight from NAMO Airport, Daman to New Delhi was ceremonially flagged off today by the Hon'ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, in the esteemed presence of the Hon'ble Administrator of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Shri Praful Patel.

The inauguration of scheduled commercial operations marks the fulfilment of a long-cherished aspiration of the people of Daman and opens a new chapter in the Union Territory's aviation, tourism and economic development.
As part of the commencement of operations, Alliance Air launched its scheduled Daman–Delhi–Daman service, which will operate every Monday and Wednesday. The Mumbai–Daman–Ahmedabad route is also scheduled to commence shortly, providing Daman with direct connectivity to major commercial and administrative centres of the country.

Addressing the gathering, Hon'ble Union Minister Shri Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu described the commencement of direct air connectivity between Daman and New Delhi as a landmark achievement reflecting the Government of India's unwavering commitment to strengthening regional connectivity under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He stated that the new air service would accelerate tourism, trade, investment and economic growth while making travel faster, safer and more convenient for residents and visitors.

While addressing the public, Hon'ble Administrator Shri Praful Patel highlighted the remarkable transformation witnessed by the Union Territory over the last 10 years through sustained investments in modern infrastructure. He expressed gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Government of India for providing Daman with world-class aviation infrastructure and stated that the commencement of direct flights to the national capital would significantly enhance connectivity, promote tourism and investment, facilitate business and create new avenues for inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India, representatives of Alliance Air, public representatives, officers of the Union Territory Administration, invited guests and members of the media, who witnessed the historic occasion with great enthusiasm.
The launch of scheduled commercial flight services from NAMO Airport marks a defining milestone in Daman's journey towards becoming a nationally connected destination and reinforces the Government of India's vision of building modern infrastructure, improving regional connectivity and fostering inclusive growth across the country.
The inauguration of NAMO Airport by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on 5 June 2026 during his visit to Daman marks a transformative milestone in the development journey of the Union Territory. Having laid the foundation stone for the Civil Terminal Building on 25 April 2023, the Hon'ble Prime Minister dedicated the completed airport to the nation in an impressive span of just three years, reflecting the Government's unwavering commitment to time-bound infrastructure development. Further reinforcing this vision, the Ministry of Defence has approved the runway extension plan for NAMO Airport in May 2026, paving the way for the operation of larger Defence aircraft as well as Airbus A320-class civilian aircraft. This strategic expansion will significantly enhance regional air connectivity, strengthen national security preparedness, and unlock new opportunities for tourism, trade, investment, and economic growth, positioning Daman as a rapidly emerging aviation and tourism hub on India's western coast.
