With the objective of highlighting emerging development opportunities, ground-level transformation and government initiatives in areas affected by Left-Wing Extremism (LWE), the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Raipur, in collaboration with the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Bijapur, will organise a special media dialogue at the Girls' Porta Cabin Auditorium, Bijapur, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 12:30 PM. The programme is being organised specifically for journalists and media representatives.
Organised as part of the Ministry of Home Affairs' broader media strategy for the post-Left-Wing Extremism (Post-LWE) phase, the programme aims to familiarise journalists with the efforts being undertaken to establish peace, strengthen security, accelerate development and restore public confidence in areas previously affected by LWE.
The discussions will focus on the achievement of the goal of an India free from Left-Wing Extremism, the obstacles to development created by Naxalism and the government's plans for the future of these regions. The programme will also highlight the impact of extremism on the lives of local communities, particularly the exploitation and atrocities faced by women, as well as the inspiring accounts of sacrifice, valour and courage displayed by security forces in the fight against Left-Wing Extremism.
The media interaction will also bring into focus the development initiatives undertaken following the restoration of peace, including the expansion of roads, communication networks and basic infrastructure, improved access to education and healthcare, employment and livelihood opportunities for youth, and greater participation of local communities in the development process. Success stories and positive transformations in areas previously affected by LWE will also be shared.
The initiative aims to provide journalists with first-hand insights into the ground realities, government interventions and changing socio-economic landscape of Bijapur and other areas previously affected by Left-Wing Extremism. It will also facilitate informed and fact-based dissemination of the achievements, challenges and development journey of these regions to a wider audience.
The programme marks an important step towards presenting, at both national and regional levels, the ongoing efforts to strengthen peace, security, development and public trust in areas previously affected by Left-Wing Extremism through effective media engagement.
