RBI to shortly circulate Rs.10 coins to commemorate 125th year of National India Archives

The reserve bank of India will shortly put in circulation Rs.10 coins minted by the government of India to commemorate the 12th year of National India Archives.

The obverse of the coin shall bear the lion capitol of Ashoka pillar in the center with the legend satyameva jayate inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery by the word Bharat in devnagri script and on the right periphery by the word ‘INDIA’ in English. It shall also bear the rupee symbol and denomination value 10 in the international numerals below the lion capital.

The face of the coin shall bear the image of “National India Archives Building” in the Centre, with inscription of 125 years below the image. A logo of 125th anniversary shall exist at the centre and above the image of “National Archives Building”. The inscription National Archives of India in Devanagri and English shall be respectively on upper periphery and the lower periphery of the coin. The year “1891” and “2016” in English shall be written on the upper and lower periphery of the coin respectively. 

These coins are legal tender as provided in the coinage act, 2011. The existing coins in this denomination will continue to be legal tender.
