The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways formulated a scheme namely, “Development of Bus Terminals on BOT basis” for implementation during 12th five year plan. This scheme provides for financial assistance to engage Project Development Consultants for development of bus terminals on BOT basis. The Ministry has received proposals from 6 states i.e. Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Andaman and Nicobar, Uttar Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.

The Project Development Consultant cost is to be shared between Govt of India, State or UTs and successful bidder as per scheme guidelines. This scheme is to be appraised for continuation with completion of 12th five year plan.
