SHRI ATHAWALE REVIEWS BACKLOG OF SC, ST VACANCIES IN TELUGU STATES

Shri Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment reviewed the backlog posts position in various organisations in the state viz.  Goods & Service Tax (GST), Income Tax, BPCL, Telangana State Police, ECIL, South Central Railway, BSNL, Midhani, A.G. Office etc.  The minister instructed the officials to see that the vacancies in reserved category are filled up at the earliest.

Shri Ramdas Athawale said that his ministry was referring the issue of reservations in promotions to the President, in view of the Supreme Court’s ruling on reservations in promotions. 

The minister said that the government was trying to encourage inter-caste marriages and offering an incentive of Rs. 2,50,000 to such couple in a bid to  end casteism. 

Terming the various attacks on dalits in different parts of the country as unfortunate, the minister said that, the attitude of the society towards dalits needs to change further.

Shri Athawale said that the government was committed to granting constitutional status to the OBC commission.  The bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha and amendments were proposed in the Rajya Sabha.  The bill has again been sent to the Lok Sabha, he said.

He further said that according to 2011 census there were more than 2.68 crore ‘divyangjan’ in the country.  In the last three and a half years, 6000 camps have been organised in which 7 lakh persons have been given various aids like wheel chairs, hearing aids, artificial limbs etc, at a total cost of Rs. 330 cr.
