Ministry of Road Transport and Highwayshas issued notification G.S.R 1095(E) dated 28.11.2016 mandating the provision of a vehicle location tracking device and one or more emergency buttons with effect from 1^stApril, 2018 in public service vehicles except two-wheelers, E-rickshaw, three wheelers and any transport vehicles for which permit is not required under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Shri Mansukh Lal Mandavia in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
