SHRI ABHAY TAKES CHARGE AS NEW DIRECTOR OF SVP NATIONAL POLICE ACADEMY

Shri Abhay, a 1986 batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre, has taken over as Director of Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy, today. Earlier, Shri Abhay, headed the Crime branch and special batch in Odisha. He also worked in the CBI, Bureau of Police Research and Development, CRPF and as Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau. During his seven year tenure in the CBI, he was the DIG of Bank Frauds and security cell in New Delhi.
Shri Abhay headed the Indian delegation for agency level talks with Myanmar, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Russia and Indonesia and represented India at the UN conference on Narcotic Drugs.
Shri Abhay is also the recipient of Indian Police medal for meritorious service and Presidents medal for distinguished service.
Addressing a press conference at the Police Academy, Shri Abhay said that about 350 IPS officers are being trained at the NPA at present. Strengthening investigation of cyber and economic crimes, would be his priority, Shri Abhay added.
