Communication should be citizen centric and the information officer must be well aware of the government schemes, its implementing agencies so that they can provide complete information to the beneficiaries, said Shri Vikram Sahay, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today during his address in the two day Regional Conference of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting held at Guwahati. Shri. Sahay also took review of the publicity activities of the media units of North East zone and West Bengal region and emphasized for making the offices in NE zone well organized.

    Addressing the gathering the Director General North East Zone Shri L R Vishwanath underlined the need for working of Bureau of Outreach and Communications, Press Information Bureau, All India Radio and Doordarshan in convergence so that  so that it results in larger and wider outreach and received by the targeted beneficiaries.

     In today’s conference Shri Satyendra Prakash, Director General, Bureau of Outreach and Communications said in his speech that the focus of government is to reach more and more people in North East and to aware them about the developmental schemes so that they can get the benefits from it.

     Senior officials from the Ministry as well as head of media units in Delhi and North East deliberates on programmes and outreach strategy for the region.  The Conference entailed close interaction amongst Bureau of Outreach and Communication, Press Information Bureau, All India Radio and Doordarshan for developing an integrated strategy for communication about various flagship programmes of the Central Government in the NER.

Shri Amit Khare, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will address a special session about media strategy in the North East tomorrow in the second day of the conference.
