Upgradation of Railway Stations in North East States

The details of railway stations upgraded in the North-East States are as under:

1. Upgradation of stations on Indian Railways is a continuous and on-going process. Works for improvement of passenger amenities are undertaken depending upon need, volume of passenger traffic and inter-se priority, subject to availability of funds.

2. Railway stations are upgraded/modernized under ‘Adarsh’ Station Scheme. So far, 30 stations in the North-East States have been identified under ‘Adarsh Station Scheme’ and all stations have been upgraded. List of these 30 stations is as under:-

3. In addition, in the year 2018-19 in North-East States 03 stations namely Rangiya, Guwahati and New Tinsukia Railway Stations have been taken up for development under ‘Soft upgrades improvements at stations’. The following facilities have been added/improved at these stations:

Waiting halls, Parking area, Wi-fi Lounge, Toilets, Platform surface, refreshment room and Station façade with circulating area have been improved.

Guwahati

Modular Water vat (29 nos.), Octagonal benches(19 nos.), Retiring room (12 nos.), Cloak room with individual locking facility provided. Waiting halls, Platform surface, toilets, retiring rooms improved. 02 Lifts and 04 Escalators have been provided.

New Tinsukia

Paid executive lounge, 1st class waiting hall for ladies, commercial outlets (06 nos.), RO water booths (20 nos.) provided. 2nd class and upper class waiting hall capacity, VIP lounge, platform surface and toilets improved.

 

Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) have been completed at 08 Stations namely Mandardisha, Pencharthal, Haitikhali, Dhalpukhuri, Lanka, Habaipur, Lamsakhang and Patharkhola.

 13 New Railway Line projects have been taken up in North Eastern Region which are at different stages of planning/ approval/ execution. Details of these projects including fund allocation are as under:
