Unlock 5 relaxations have increased the responsibility of people to be vigilant in   preventing the  spread of covid 19. Prime Minister had announced Jan Andolan to create awareness among people about stopping the spread of covid 19. Field Outreach Bureaus all over Tamil Nadu under Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting are creating awareness through autorickshaws on covid 19 prevention.

Even though tourism industry is badly affected by covid 19 pandemic lockdown, hospitality industry including hotels restaurants are coming back to normalcy. Union Ministry of Tourism and Quality Council of India have joined together to start SAATHI- System for Assessment Awareness and training for Hospitality Industry. This will help the hotel industry in preparedness to continue operations safely and mitigate risks arising out of the COVID pandemic. Hotels can register themselves in the official website of SAATHI https://saathi.qcin.org  . For the registration under SAATHI, applicant unit must have approved/Verified Registration number of National Database for Accommodation Units, https://hotelcloud.nic.in/HotelDivision/Default.aspx. National Integrated Database of Hospitality Industry NIDHI is an initiative towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat to use technology to empower businesses. NIDHI apart from being a database,  aspires to become a gateway to opportunities for the Hospitality Industry. Registration with NIDHI will ensure electronic delivery of various services and benefits to the hospitality unit.

Tiruchirapalli collector has given instructions to all the hotel owners in the district to register themselves in www.saathi.qcin.org and www.hotelcloud.nic.in  . The district authorities have asked hotel owners to register themselves in these portals of Union Tourism Ministry and send the information to email of Tamil Nadu tourism development corporation Trichy office tourismtrichy[at]gmail[dot]com  .  In Tamil Nadu, 1064 hotels and in Trichy about 48 hotels have registered in www.hotelcloud.nic.in  .  In the state 179 hotels including 25 from Trichy have registered in www.saathi.qcin.org according to details available in the portal.

Advisories and instructions have been given by the government to hospitality industry to prevent covid 19 spread. The hotel management have been ordered to  identify all regulatory guidance of respective local, State or Central Government regulations and directives to maintain safety of customers. Hotels in containment zones shall remain closed and only those outside containment zones will be allowed to open.  Gaming Arcades/Children play areas shall remain closed to prevent spread of pandemic. The Hotel Management shall create a Rapid Response Team (RRT) led by a senior resource person. The management shall ensure adequate availability of necessary equipment, masks, gloves or other protective equipment as applicable, sanitizers, facility of handwash at proper locations, arrangement for social distancing . They should ensure availability of thermal Gun thermometer for temperature checking of staff and guests at all entry points, Hand-wash soap, Hand Sanitizers, Hand Gloves, Masks, coveralls.

As unlock measures are announced and being implemented by government, the hospitality industry is limping back to normalcy. However utmost care should be taken to prevent the spread of covid 19 pandemic by adhering to safety norms.
