Mutual understanding and trust is India’s strength and all citizens should feel culturally integrated, said Sri Mamidi Hari Krishna, Director, Department of Culture, Government of Telangana. The Department of Language and Culture mainly focuses on different approaches and strategies for the development of the art and culture of Telangana at a regional level within the State and out of the State with an aim to build ‘Brand Telangana’ through cultural means.
We are making a plan of action for the promotion, propagation & preservation of latest cultural traditions of Telangana & India. Telangana culture is very distinct & Vibrant with different festivals & faiths. Telangana state is a country culture dominated, as the Mahatma Gandhi said, the soul of India lives in its villages. Like Telangana’s folk culture & literature lives in its villages. Women have a very prominent role in Telangana festivals. The word Bonam is a contraction of the word Bhojanam, a Sanskrit loanword which means a meal or a feast in Telugu. It is an offering to the Mother Goddess. Bathukamma is one of the unique festival of Telangana region and a state festival having universal appeal, celebrated across the globe with great elegance. He added.
