Department of Posts has launched a digital life certification service in coordination with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) to help the pensioners in furnishing life certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) digitally.
Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric enabled digital service for pensioners. Retired employees availing pension from Central/State government/PSUs/PSBs or any other government organization can take benefit of this facility.
With the launch of this innovative service, pensioners will not be required to make physical visit to the office of pension disbursing agency. The pensioners will be able to generate the life certificate either by visiting the nearest post office or through the Doorstep Banking Service offered by Department of Posts through Postmen/Gramin Dak Sevaks with its extended reach.
Pensioners can contact the local Postman/Gramin Dak Sevak of their area or register their request through Post-Info Application available in Google Play Store, for generation of Digital Life Certificate.
Pensioners have to submit Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number, and Pension particulars for this process. For each successful generation of Digital Life Certificate at doorstep, Rs.70/-(including GST/CESS/DSB) will be charged.
In the current COVID-19 pandemic scenario, this doorstep service from Department of Posts will serve as a boon for the more susceptible pensioners, to avoid travelling in the public transport and visit banks and offices, according to a press release issued by Shri. V. Santhanaraman, Director Postal Services (HQ), Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Tamil Nadu Circle, Chennai 600 002.
