Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare launched National Child Health scheme RashtriyaBalSwasthyaKaryakram (RBSK), in 2013 forchild health screening and early intervention services. This includes early detection and management of a set of 30 health conditions prevalent in children less than 18 years of age. These conditions are defects at birth, diseases in children, deficiency conditions and developmental delays including disabilities. Child health screening and early intervention services also aims at reducing the extent of disability, at improving the quality of life. It aims at providing continuum of care from birth to throughout childhood period. It aims at Health for Allensuring free assured medical services under National Health Mission.

The doctors and health staff under National Child Health Scheme-RBSK will be utilised in new Amma Mini clinics being opened all over Tami Nadu. Chief Minister Shri EdapadyPalanisamy had announced opening of Amma Mini clinics all over the state.

In Tiruchirapalli, 58 Amma Mini clinics will be opened all over the district. Three such Amma Mini clinics were inaugurated on Wednesday by Tamil Nadu Tourism minister Shri Vellamandi N Natarajan and Backward and minorities welfare minister Smt S Valarmathi. The new Amma mini clinics will function at Sangiliyandapuram and Anna Nagar in Thennur in Trichy corporation limits and Thayanur in Manikandam. Amma mini clinics will be opened in Thiruvembur, Manikandam, Andhanallur, Mannachanallur, Manapparai, Marungapuri, Vaiyampatti, Lalgudi, Pullambadi, Musiri, Thathaingarpettai, Thottiyam, Thuraiyur, Uppiliyapuram in rural Trichy. Amma mini clinics will function from 8 am to 12 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm in corporation and municipality areas and in town panchayats and rural areas it will function from 8 am to 12 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm on all days except Saturdays. Each clinic will have a doctor, a nurse and a health worker.
