As per the government guidelines on COVID-19, vaccination drive for frontline warriors started at DSP Main Hospital of Durgapur Steel Plant on Monday morning on 01.02.2021 with Dr. KN Thakur, ED (M&HS) receiving the first shot of the vaccine followed by other physicians and health workers working in the Medical & Health Services Department of DSP. The event started with Shri AV Kamlakar, CEO, ISP  with additional charge of CEO, DSP & ASP cutting the inaugural ribbon amidst presence of Dr. Keka Mukhopadhyay, Nodal Officer & Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Paschim Bardhaman, WB and other preferred doctors and medical staff members of the Hospital. It may be known that hundred doses of vaccine shots has been given on the first day and it has been planned to continue the drive at DSP.

It is noteworthy to mention that from the day one of the lockdown from March last year, Durgapur Steel Plant was quick in action to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and took several steps towards preventing spread of Corona Virus in the plant and township areas of DSP. Various awareness drives including sanitization in different areas of the plant and township areas, scanning of the employees at plant entry gates with thermal gun etc. were carried out at DSP and the war at DSP is continuing till today in the fight against COVID-19.
