Principals and heads of schools in Margao city were felicitated at an event held at the three-day photo exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav that is underway at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao, on Saturday, 28th August, 2021.

The exhibition, being conducted by Field Outreach Bureau-Goa, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, was earlier inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chandrakant Kavlekar on Friday. It is being conducted as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Government of India’s year-long celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence.  

On Saturday at the event, principals and heads of schools in the city were felicitated by Smt Jyoti Kumari IAS, Deputy Collector, Salcete. Speaking at the event, Smt Kumari appreciated the service rendered by teachers in bring up a responsible and educated generation. She said that it is the teachers who pave the base for any individual for his or her growth. 

The schools have been very helpful to the government in Covid management as several schools now function as Covid vaccination centers, she said. “Let us all wish that we overcome the Covid 19 crisis soon so that schools can reopen and students can have a normal life as they have been away from schools for almost two years,” Smt Kumari said.

At the event, prizes were distributed to the winners of Drawing Competition that was conducted by FOB for school students on the theme of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. A mango tree sapling was planted by Smt Jyoti Kumar IAS, Deputy Collector, Salcete, on the premises of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, to commemorate the 75 years of India’s Independence.

The exhibition is open for the public till Sunday, 29 August, 2021. 

Cultural troupes under the Field Outreach Bureau, Goa performed patriotic programmes at the function.

The Iconic Week under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a grand celebration by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, to showcases the convergence of the values and glories of the freedom struggle of the past with the aspirations and dreams of a young, new and iconic India.
