A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology, Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences (NSCMB FEB RAS), Russia and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), Goa have  signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of marine biology, marine ecology and blue economy, in the Indian Ocean region (beyond the EEZ of India), Pacific and Polar (Arctic) regions, which will be of mutual advantage/interest as an international component of their research activity/activities.

The MoU was signed virtually on 26th August by Prof. Inessa Dyuizen, NSCMB FEB RAS and Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh, Director, CSIR-NIO, Goa in the presence of Dr. Pawan Dewangan, Dr. Manguesh Gauns, Dr. V.J. Loveson and Sh. Venkat K. of CSIR-NIO, Dr. Konstantin Lutaenko,  Prof. Yury Kartavtsev, Dr. Vasiliy Radashevsky, Dr. Yulia Trebukhova, Dr. Marina Malyutina, Dr. Julia Zograf, Dr. Vadim Serkov, Ms. Anastasiia Grishina, Ms. Svetlana Geronina of NSCMB FEB RAS;  Dr. Shishir Shrotriya, Counsellor (Science & Technology), Embassy of India, Moscow (Russia) and Dr. Mohit Anand and Ms. Kamlesh Rani of CSIR-International S & T Affairs Directorate (ISTAD)

The MoU will enable Indian and Russian scientists to establish a framework for activity/activities in areas of biological oceanography which will contribute to advancement of research and development in marine science and technology for the benefit of society at large. It will involve basic, exploratory, and applied scientific research in marine biology, ecology and ecosystem dynamics, microbiota, a study of deep-sea ecosystems, and related sciences. Thus, this MoU will strengthen cooperation in capacity building, human resource development and skill development in the field of marine sciences and technology.
