E-surveillance Methods For Coalfields Operations

Coal India Limited (CIL) in its subsidiaries including Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) have established e-surveillance such as CCTV Surveillance and GPS based VTS System to check coal operation at their plants.

           Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has implemented Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) in all the mines to monitor the movement of the coal from mines to the dispatch points. All the registered vehicles are provided with RFID tags, GPS instruments. The movement of the vehicles will be monitored with the help of GPS and any deviation will be immediately communicated to the control rooms established for the purpose of monitoring in all areas. Vital locations including Offices, mine loading points, weigh bridges, CHPs are provided with CC TV cams to monitor the movement of trucks. In addition to this, all the check posts situated enroute are also provided with CCTV cameras.

 

E-surveillance through GPS based VTS System is provided in CIL Subsidiaries to monitor movement of coal transportation. The subsidiary-wise details are given below:-

There is no illegal mining in SCCL command area of Godavari Valley Coalfields. However, the Vehicle Tracking System is helpful in curbing unauthorized transport of coal.

 

This information was given by the Union Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Shri Pralhad Joshi in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
