The Archaeological Survey of India, Government of India, Mumbai Circle is organising various programmes at Raigad Ford today, 18th April 2022, on the occasion of World Heritage Day. This is in collaboration with Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh-Natya Shakha, Rang Manch Sahyogis.
 

Famous Marathi Play “Raigadala Jevha Jaag Yete” is being presented by the artists of Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh - Natya Shakha, Rang Manch Sahyog at Raj Sadar of Raigad fort. Also a photo exhibition is being organised titled 'Excavation and Conservation of the Raigad fort'. Entry is free.

 

ASI, Aurangabad Circle is organising similar programme at Ellora Caves under the purview of Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, today from 7 PM onwards.
 

A photo exhibition gallery is being displayed at Cave Number 16, Ellora. This will give visitors a photo tour of various monuments/archaeological sites under the jurisdiction of Aurangabad Circle.
The visitors will also get to watch 'TRIKAAL', a Cultural Festival being organised in collaboration with Birwa Qureshi, Founder, Artistic Director of Crraft of Art.
 

Performances by famous music maestros like Ustad Fazal Qureshi on Tabla, Anand Bhate, Vocal, Rakesh Chaurasia on Flute, Dilshad Khan on Sarangi, Sridhar Parthasarthy on Mridangam, Sangeet Haldipur on Keyboard, Gino Banks on Drums and Sheldon D’Silva on Bass Guitar.
 

Actor Sachin Khedekar is hosting the event. The main objective of the programme is to raise public awareness about our heritage and monuments and their preservation.
 

Earlier this morning Aurangabad Circle organised a cultural workshop on Warli Art at Tomb of Rabia Daurani (Bibi-ka-Maqbara), Aurangabad. This was in collaboration with Kiran Nadr Museum of Art.

ASI Mumbai circle had earlier organised a seminar at Elephanta Caves, off Mumbai coast yesterday on the eve of World Heritage Day. It was jointly organised by ASI, St. Xavier College, Mumbai, Museum Society of Mumbai, and Bombay Local History Society. Around 80 persons, including students, local guides and senior citizens participated in the seminar. Scholars discussed various aspects of heritage.
 

Superintending Archaeologist, ASI Dr Rajendra Yadav spoke about the importance of heritage and world Heritage sites of India. Prof. Anita Rahane elaborated about cave architecture of western India with special reference to Elephanta caves. Prof Srikant Jadhav, Deccan college explained the geomorphology of these caves and western Indian caves.
