UNION MINISTER NITIN GADKARI LAYS FOUNDATION STONE FOR 12 NATIONAL HIGHWAY PROJECTS AND 7 CRIF PROJECTS OF TOTAL LENGTH 460 KMs WITH INVESTMENT OF Rs. 8000 CRORES

The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Shri Nitin Gadkari laid the Foundation Stone and dedicated to the nation twelve National Highways and seven Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) projects in the august presence of Union Minister Shri G Kishan Reddy, MoS Gen V. K. Singh, State Government Minister Shri Vemula Prashanth Reddy, MPs, MLAs, MLCs of Telangana state in an event held near the Hyderabad Airport in Shamshabad. These roadways, totalling to about 460 kilometres would cost about of Rs.8,000 crores.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gadkari said that the highways will boost the inter-state connectivity by enabling seamless travel from Telangana to Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The fast paced Highway development will boost trade and commerce in the region and create sustainable employment opportunities for the youth, he said.

The Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Kishan Reddy shared that while at the time of formation of Telangana State in 2014, the length of NH in Telangana State was 2511 kms, now due to the vision of the Prime Minister and initiative of the Union Transport Minister, the length has increased to 4996 kms.

Giving further details of the ongoing projects in the state, Shri Kishan Reddy said that the Kallakal – Gundla Pochanpally, Gundla Pochanpally – Bowenpally and Thondupally – Kothur of NH-44 are being developed to 6 Lane with service roads and grade separators. He further informed that the Government of India has approved an amount of Rs.44,658 Cr (1,314 Kms) for development of National Highways, to be taken up by NHAI under Bharatmala-I and sanctioned an amount of Rs.9,147 crore under Annual Plan 2022-23, to be taken up by MORTH through R&B(NH). These projects will be executed after the land acquisition is completed by state government of Telangana, he informed.

The dignitaries opined that the construction of all these projects will result in savings in fuel, travel time, distance, overall transportation cost and generate employment opportunities.
