Eighth International Day of Yoga was celebrated at Phugewadi Metro Station, Pune - one of the iconic sites chosen by the Government of India for the Yoga Day celebration.

Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Development Institute, Mumbai, along with National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, Ministry of AYUSH, Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, and Maharashtra Railway Corporation Limited organised the event at Phugewadi Metro Station, Pune today.

Union Minister for MSME Narayan Rane inaugurated the ‘Exhibition of Yoga & Yoga Gurus’, which has been organised by the CBC, Maharashtra & Goa at the Metro station. The Minister while addressing the yoga enthusiasts, highlighted the need and necessity of Yoga in modern times to reduce stress and remain healthy. He appealed to make Yoga a habit.

The main yoga event which was attended by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was live streamed to the audience present and to the common citizens through LED Screens. Shri Rane also joined the Yoga demonstration along with the participants at the Metro station. Yoga practices under Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) was demonstrated by trained demonstrators.

Director, Ministry of MSME, P.M Parlewar, Managing Director, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., Brijesh Dixit, Director, National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune. Dr. Satya Lakshmi, Dy.Director, Central Bureau of Communication (MH & Goa), Nikhil Deshmukh, were present. Actress Ms. Priya Marathe and Actor Sh. Ajit Shidhaye, were present among the dignitaries. The event witnessed participation of around 1000 youths from all over Pune.

 

After the programme a joy ride on Metro was provided to first 1000 participants, the cost of which was borne by Ministry of MSME.
