Press Information Bureau organised a Media workshop ‘Vartalap’ in Kapurthala, Punjab. Presenting the welcome address, Shri Rajinder Chaudhry, ADG, Press Information Bureau (PIB), Chandigarh said, “Media are the eyes and ears for the Government as their reporting on Government plans and schemes plays a critical role in policy inputs which increase the effectiveness of Government schemes and plans.”
He further said that 'Vartalaps' are an important medium for giving positive messages to the society about government programmes and schemes as it increases the interface between media and government.

The Chief Guest at the occasion, Sh. Vishesh Sarangal, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala addressed multiple queries of the local media. He informed that the district had successfully completed various projects under MGNREGA and was also pursuing strict implementation of the single use plastic ban.
As a part of the ‘Vartalap’, sessions were held on the National Education Policy, MGNREGA and single use plastic ban in Kapurthala, Punjab. Addressing the media friends during the Vartalap, Sh. Surinder Pal Angra, ADC, Kapurthala, said, “ MGNREGA is a game changer that guarantees a minimum of 100 days of work in their place of stay to all the willing persons.”
Speaking about the National Education Policy, Sh. Bikramjit Singh, Dy. District Education Officer, Kapurthala said, “National Education Policy which is based on the four pillars of Access, Equity, Quality, and Accountability is a progressive policy that has the potential to change our nation's education system.”
The occasion also saw a positive change where the PIB replaced bouquet of flowers with bouquets of books from Publication Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as tokens of gratitude to the guests which included Sh. Vishesh Sarangal, Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, Sh. Surinder Pal Angra, ADC, Kapurthala, Ms. Nayan Jassal, Municipal Commissioner Phagwara, Ms. Anupam Kaler, ADC, Kapurthala, Ms. Upinderjeet Brar, Asst Commissioner, Kapurthala, Sh. Hardeep Singh, SDM, Kapurthala and Sh. Bikramjit Singh, Dy District Education Officer, Kapurthala.
