Some of the steps taken towards achieving net zero emissions  are as follows:

 

1. 1. 1. Notification of Steel Scrap Recycling Policy to enhance the availability of domestically generated scrap. Steel making through scrap route is relatively less polluting.

1. 1. 2. Engagement with various stakeholders including industry associations and leaders of domestic steel industry to encourage decarbonisation of the steel industry.

1. 1. 3. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced setting up of National Hydrogen Energy Mission with an aim to develop and scale up green hydrogen production technology. The steel sector has also been made a stakeholder in the Mission.

 

               Government has announced National Hydrogen Energy Mission with an aim to promote production and utilization of Green Hydrogen.

 

This information was given by the Minister of State for Steel, Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
