There is no plan to stop the sale of food items on cash at railway stations. However, digital method of transactions for purchase of food items through catering units at Railway Stations is being encouraged. This is intended to facilitate passengers with additional options of payment. As per extant Catering Policy issued vide Commercial Circular 20 of 2017, facility for cashless transaction viz. POS/Swipe machine etc. shall be compulsorily available in all the static units.
