38650 accounts for girl children opened by Goa Postal Division under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

Senior Supdt. of Post Offices, Goa Division, Panaji, organized a Sukanya Samriddhi Mahotsav on Saturday at Vasco. The event was organized to commemorate the success of the Department of Posts' activities under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana along with 75 years of Indian Independence,  ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. Goa Postal Division has been successful in opening 38,650 accounts under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a small deposit scheme meant exclusively for the girl child.  Under the scheme, accounts can be opened for any girl child below 10 years and is meant to meet the future education and marriage expenses of a girl child.

The event also saw girl students who achieved academic excellence being felicitated. A few passbooks of Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts were also handed over to girls during the programme.

   

Chief Guest for the event, Smt . Deepali Naik, Director, Directorate of Women and Child Development, affirmed to contribute in spreading awareness on Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and also informed the audience about various Government interventions for  women and girl children and the principal of Navy Children. Smt Anupama Mehra, Principal of Navy Children School, Chicalim, Shri. M. Narasimha Swamy,  Senior Supdt. of Post Offices were also present on the occasion.  The event drew participation from more than 200 students along with parents and teachers.
