Department of Posts celebrates ‘Vittiya Sashaktikaran Diwas’ today

The Department of Posts celebrated ‘Vittiya Sashaktikaran Diwas’ today (October 10, 2022) to focus on financial empowerment of the common man. Under the campaign, a mela has been organized in each district of the Maharashtra Postal Circle has been organised, along with campaigns for opening of POSB/IPPB accounts and procurement of PLI/RPLI policies.  

The World Post Day marks the Anniversary of the establishment of Universal Postal Union, headquarter at Bern. The Department of Posts is celebrating National Postal Week 2022 from 09th October, 2022 to 13th October, 2022.

Addressing a press conference, Chief Post Master General Smt Veena R Srinivas informed, “India Post is synonymous with Savings Bank, but we are functioning as an agency for it. We have started with net-banking and mobile-banking facilities as well. We also extend these facilities for the IPPB customers”. Speaking on the successful implementation of schemes, the CPMG Maharashtra Circle informed that more than 80 percent of the Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts nationally are lying with the Postal Department.

‘World Post Day’ focusing on the theme ‘Post for Planet’ was also observed throughout the Maharashtra Circle yesterday, that is, October 9, 2022. The purpose is to create awareness about the Post’s role in the everyday lives of people and businesses, as well as its contribution to global social and economic development.

Activities for the remaining days of National Postal Week which have been planned in Maharashtra Postal Circle are as follows:

On 11th October 2022 – ‘Philately Day’: Celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Release of 09 Special Covers on theme ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP).

On 12th October 2022 – ‘Mails and Parcel Day’ – A Special Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Postmark cancellation will be done on all categories of inbound and outbound mail till       15th August 2023. Customer meet will be arranged for bulk customers to inform about the new initiative taken under Parcel Tracker.

On 13th October 2022 – ‘Antyodya Diwas’ – Will be celebrated to commemorate the contribution of the Department of Posts in the lives of the common man.   Awareness cum Aadhar enrolment and updation camps will be organised in rural/remote areas and urban slums.
