After a gap of 2 years, Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHM), Mumbai is celebrating the 5th Cornucopia- The food & Trade Fair event co-sponsored by University College Birmingham from 24st February 2023 to 26th February 2023 at the IHM Mumbai campus located at Dadar West, Mumbai.

The inauguration of the program was held on 24th February 2023 at the hands of the Principal of the institute; Mr. Nisheeth Sivastava, accompanied by the Head of Departments of the institute; Mr. Francis Thomas, Mrs. Neelam Nadkar, Mrs. Shilpa Madkar and Mr. Asit Kumar Mishra.

The event has an array of food and beverage stalls which include, a beverage stall serving hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages, bakery & confectionary, Tex-Mex (A mix of American and Mexican Cuisine), Arabic cuisine, Japanese cuisine, Korean cuisine, Vegan  cuisine and a stall focusing on Millets, which goes in line with the theme of  International Year of the Millets.

The objective of the event is to provide an opportunity to the students of the institute to get exposure to the popular international cuisines, their production and service. The students who work on various stalls get exposure of various aspects of event management like planning, marketing, public relations, logistics, etc. The event has various faculty student teams who work in tandem to make this a successful exercise.

In the 3-day event, various cultural performances, quiz competitions will be held for the guests who will visit the event. The institute also amalgamated a few quiz and games for the guests under the aegis of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program initiated by the government of India.

The Food & Trade Fair at IHM Mumbai dates its history back to 2013 when, a small food and trade fair along with theme dinners was organised. The same food and trade fair tradition albeit on a larger scale was revived successfully in the year 2017. That year, the event was christened as “Cornucopia”. IHM Mumbai has had 4 successful “Cornucopia’s” till the year 2020. 2023 marks the 5th edition of the fair.

Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The insitute is the oldest school of hospitality, the first of its kind in South East Asia and was founded on June 27th 1954 by the All India Womens Central Food Council under the leadership of Smt. Lilavati Munshi and is considered as the pioneer in hospitality education in India. Since then the insitute has changed and grown tremendously, achieving a lot of milestones through its years in the field of hospitality education.
