India Tourism organizes Heritage Walk cum Cleaning Drive at Aguada Jail Museum, Goa

India Tourism, under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, organized a successful Heritage Walk cum Cleaning Drive at the Aguada Jail Museum in Candolim, Goa, on 9th March 2023. The event aimed to create awareness among the youth about the importance of heritage conservation and cleanliness.

The participation of around 45 members of the Yuva Tourism Club from three prominent educational institutes-Institute of Hotel Management, Porvorim; Goa College of Home Science, Panaji; and Dnyanprassarak Vidyalaya, Mapusa - was the highlight of the event. Anil Joglekar, a Government of Goa-approved tourist guide, shared valuable insights into the history of the Aguada Jail and the Goa Liberation Movement with the students.

The event showcased the students' enthusiasm as they actively participated in a cleaning drive, ensuring the premises of the Aguada Jail Museum were spotless. India Tourism aims to promote tourism in the country while preserving the rich cultural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism practices.

The event was successful in its objective of instilling a sense of responsibility and ownership towards heritage conservation and cleanliness among the youth. The event was a representation of the government's commitment to promoting sustainable tourism practices in the state.
