National Institute of Technology Puducherry, Karaikal and Ministry of Micro Small Medium Enterprises, Government of India have jointly organized an “Awareness Program on the Design Component of the MSME Innovative Scheme” on 20th March 2023 at NIT Puducherry.

The chief guest of the event was Dr. K Sankaranarayanasamy, Director, NIT Puducherry. Dr. S Sundaravarathan, Registrar, NIT Puducherry, joined as Honorable Guest. Dr. N Sendhil Kumar, Dean, Research and Consultancy, NIT Puducherry, Karaikal, was the guest speaker, and Mr. Amit Nain, Deputy General Manager, MSME Technology Centre Puducherry, was the guest of honor for the event. Dr. Ansuman Mahapatra, Associate Dean, Research and Consultancy, NIT Puducherry, organized and coordinated the event. The event was attended by 20 MSMEs and students from Karaikal.

Dr. Ansuman Mahapatra, welcomed the participants and the dignitaries. Dr. K Sankaranarayanasamy, Dr. S Sundaravarathan, Dr. N Sendhil Kumar, and MR. Amit Nain was welcomed to the event with a flower bucket and shawl. The chief guest, Dr. K Sankaranarayanasamy said that this initiative will improve the relation between MSMEs and NIT Puducherry. NIT Puducherry will always be a part of all the MSME related activities and help the local MSMEs to grow.

The honorable guest, Dr. S. Sundaravarathan said that NIT Puducherry has always taken initiatives to organize this type of event for the society at Karaikal and will always provide support to the MSMEs and industries in and around Karaikal and Puducherry. Dr. Ansuman Mahapatra introduced the audience to Industry Design, Innovation, and Product Design Principles with various design examples.

 

Then the Guest Speaker, Dr. N Sendhil Kumar, explained the Design Component of the MSME Innovative Scheme objectives, eligibility criteria, financial assistance, design project, student design project, how to apply, implementation mechanism, and assessment criteria. At the end, the Guest of Honor, Mr. Amit Nain, explained the various facilities provided by MSME Technology Centre Puducherry. The participants can leverage the facility to create design prototypes or small-scale manufacturing, also can upgrade their skill by enrolled themselves in skill development programs.
