PIB, Mumbai in association with NFDC, Kaivalyadham Yoga Institute and Ministry of Tourism organizes a Common Yoga Protocol Demonstration to celebrate the 9th International Day of Yoga


Officials and staff from Press Information Bureau, National Films Development Corporation, Doordarshan, All India Radio, Central Board of Film Certification and Publications Division participate in the event

To celebrate the 9th International Day of Yoga 2023, Press Information Bureau, Mumbai in association with National Film Development Corporation of India, Kaivalyadham Yoga Institute and Ministry of Tourism, Regional Office Mumbai, organized a Common Yoga Protocol Demonstration at J. B Hall, NFDC, Mumbai today. Officials and staff from various organisations and entities under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with offices in Mumbai, namely Press Information Bureau, National Films Development Corporation, Doordarshan, All India Radio, Central Board of Film Certification and Publications Division participated in the event. Experts from Kaivalyadham led by Joint Director Shri. Ravi Dixit mentored the session.

Delivering the Welcome Address, Shri Nana Meshram, Joint Director, PIB Mumbai said that this year’s Yoga Day celebration has become significant in the backdrop of India’s G20 presidency. He added that practicing Yoga is not new for our country since it’s an ancient art of a healthy lifestyle in India. The sages in ancient times who practiced and popularized Yoga contributed greatly in the development of the country in those days and the whole world has adopted and acknowledged this Yoga today. As a result, United Nations resolved to celebrate June 21 as the International Yoga Day every year. Therefore he urged everyone to also contribute in this celebration, by adopting a healthy lifestyle and making Yoga a part of daily routine. Shri. Meshram also encouraged participants to perform and learn the simple Asanas which were to be demonstrated by the Yoga experts in the Common Yoga Protocol Demonstration.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri D. Ramkrishnan, General Manager, NFDC expressed his views about the importance of Yoga. Stating that he himself is a regular  practitioner of Yoga, he said that it is not only good for our body, mind and soul but also regulates breath. It makes us calm and gives a divine experience to the soul along with soothing our muscles and improving blood circulation. Even people who are involved in sedentary jobs can do various Yoga exercises. Yoga is priceless and therefore every individual should practice Yoga and adopt a healthy lifestyle, said Shri. Ramkrishnan.

Shri Ravi Dixit, Joint Director, Kaivalyadham Yoga Institute, Mumbai and his disciples Anvita Dixit and Ashlesha Mahdik demonstrated various simple Yogasans that could be incorporated by participants in their daily routine. Along with the demonstration, Shri Dixit also explained the importance of practising Yoga and the relevance of each Asan towards the wellbeing of a particular part of our body. All participants participated enthusiastically in the demonstration and were refreshed through the various activities performed.

Ms. Nikita Joshi, Assistant Director, PIB, Mumbai delivered the Vote of Thanks and expressed gratitude to the collaborators and participants for the great enthusiasm shown towards the event. Ms. Sonal Tupe, Information Assistant moderated the event.
